Region Ten Health Sector will benefit from a budgetary allocation of $640.3M for 2017.
Regional Health Committee Chairman Councillor Dr. Gregory Harris said that there will be several major changes in the Health Sector for 2017. He noted that for the first time Rockstone community will receive an ambulance.
“This will be a major boost given the level of emergencies and the difficulties associated with travel from such outlying areas which usually refer patients to the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC). The development is also expected to ease the economic burden on residents.”

He noted that new outdoor facilities- washroom facilities will be constructed as well as guard huts. He added that some of the Health Centres will be extended and a polyclinic will be established in the Berbice River.

Health Workers will have more materials to help them perform more efficiently. Dr. Harris said that 10 motorcycles will be purchased by the Regional Health department to assist Health Workers in their field assignments.
