Rotary’s District Governor, Roger Bose, recently concluded a successful one-week visit to
Guyana. Mr. Bose is the Governor for District 7030 which consists of 17 countries in the region, including Guyana.
The District Governor met with the six Rotary Clubs in Guyana in a bid to provide assistance and advice on challenges which clubs may be experiencing. He also met with the Rotaract and Interact Clubs.
At a joint dinner meeting held at the Pegasus Hotel, the District Governor said he was impressed by the wonderful projects that Rotary clubs have been doing in Guyana but he encouraged clubs to intensify their public relations so that Rotary can become a household name.
Among the projects the District Governor visited were the Hope Children’s Home in Enmore where the Rotary Clubs in Guyana implemented a joint project to purchase bunk beds.
He also commissioned the newly refurbished St. Joseph High School Library and art room which were projects completed by the Rotary Club of Stabroek.
Also very impressive was the extension of the Kuru Kuru Nursery School, a project which was undertaken by the Rotary Club of Demerara.
A site visit was also conducted at the Sophia Dental Clinic, a project which is being undertaken by the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central.

wing of the Skeldon Hospital which was completed by the Rotary Club of Corriverton and a water filtration system installed at the Canje Secondary School which was implemented by the Rotary Club of New Amsterdam.
The District Governor along with Guyana’s Assistant District Governor Ms. Luana Falconer, Presidents Lisa Foster and Ramesh Seebarran, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the good work being done by Rotary in Guyana and also offered to provide whatever assistance he can to promote the various projects being implemented.
The District Governor also took time out to visit the breathtaking Kaieteur Falls during his visit. Rotary has a membership of over 1.2 million members worldwide and this year, the organisation will be celebrating its 100th anniversary of the Foundation in Atlanta, Georgia in June.
