Dear Editor,
I am still trying to figure out how stupid a stupid person can be or how business illiterate a person can be in making certain decisions. I am still trying to figure how dunce a person can be to believe that everyone else is “duncer” (a word I made up) than him or her. It still baffles me as to why a three-year-old child if given an option of which part of a $100 he would choose, when given a $20 in one hand and $80 in the other hand. He would choose the $80 instead of the $20, but still the Mayor and City Councillors would choose the $20 instead of $80.
In an attempt to understand under which circumstances I would choose $20 out of every $100, I came up with three circumstances. First circumstance, if the $20 out of every $100 is profit, I will take it. Now this means that after all expenses have been paid by the company, I mean all expenses, overheads, wages, etc. and the $20 is untouched as pure profit. The mayor would have proudly stated that she employed 50 persons and more are being trained. How Council getting only $20 from every $100 and creating new employment?
I suggest every pretty young girl pay attention in their class especially if you are aspiring for a top position. More so, every aspiring church boy who intends to be a preacher be stripped of all ignorance with regards to dollars and sense and arrogance as well as deceitfulness. Do not abuse your constituents, they will oppose you.
Second circumstance, if I am getting a drawback meaning, I get $20 as per record and part of the $80 say $20 for finder’s fee for myself which may not be recorded in the books to be audited. This means that I will get a lifetime drawback and can relax as the cheese rolls in. As small as it may seem, it will become a large cut for me. It just does not make sense. Who works their butt off for $20 out of $100? Not me! So with the behaviour of academically challenged Mayor and the bully boy personality of the Town Clerk as well as the toothless bull dog nature of the Councillors, except for the few who are standing up against the tyranny of the Mayor and City Councillors, it is evident that somebody is getting a huge thing.
So everybody who is trumpeting with the house of pain that the parking meters are here to stay, open your eyes. I hope the Honourable Minister of Finance is not supporting the parking meter project because he can use his favourite word more often (VAT). However, I suggest that GRA stops harassing ordinary citizens for the meager outstanding taxes and start going after the parsons getting the drawbacks; property taxes, bank accounts, taxes on the big fancy gate of the preacher, etc. Mr. Editor the $20 for the city comes with benefits. My Economics lecturers always said; “there is nothing like a free lunch.” So on behalf of the Mayor and City Councillors of Georgetown thanks in advance for paying for the lunch.
Third circumstance, I am just dunce. Oh well, not in this day and age. Money illiteracy does not exist, regardless of how poor in Mathematics or Business an individual may be. It appears that the Mayor and City Councillors of Georgetown think that the citizens are the dunce ones and they are the only bright ones. What a shame!
I watched Tyler Perry’s, movie, “Why did I get married?”and learned about the 80:20 rule, where some persons trade their 80% they know and experience in their relationship for some 20% they think they know in someone else. Oh shoots! Pat and Roy and the rest of their “We go fishing family” would like us to believe that when they went fishing they found some parking meters which can be used in Georgetown to raise revenue.
They did not realize that when they found the parking meters and brought them home, their parents would have enquired as to how they found parking meters in a fish pond, or if they stole them. They never thought that they would have to explain how they acquired them, under which circumstance, how much they paid for them, how they will pay for them, at whose expense and so forth. They thought that that they were the bright ones. They never thought that Georgetown had persons who would speak out and stand up against lies; they never thought that democracy would have spoken so loudly. Oh boy! They don’t think! At least until after the fact.
Mr. Editor, please convey my message to the people in charge, next time choose the person who earned the highest points in the interview to be the Town Clerk and elect a less academically challenged person who understands the roles and purpose of a Mayor.
