A route 43 minibus which plies the Linden/Kwakwani route took a plunge into a trench which drains the Cockatara Creek into the Demerara River in the vicinity of BOSAI Bauxite Company.
When this newspaper arrived on the scene about 13:00hrs, the driver of the minibus BWW 589 had disappeared.
According to the driver of the car involved in the incident, who wished not to be named, he was turning when the minibus hit him from behind. “I was just turning into NIS and I had on my trafficator but the speed he was coming with and the road wet, he couldn’t stop. He ran straight in my back and he ended up in there.”
It is alleged that it was not the assigned driver piloting the vehicle at the time of the accident, but the conductor.
Investigations are ongoing.
