Brian Mohan, also known as Abdul, was yesterday remanded to prison for the murder of Festival City resident, Christopher Wharton, also known as ‘Tapps or Chrissy. Wharton was gunned down on November 18, 2015 at Festival City, North Ruimveldt.
Mohan who appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly was not required to plead to the indictable charge after it was read to him.
According to reports, Wharton of Lot 1960 Buggy Peak Street, Festival City was shot to his hand, left butt and groin area by gunmen, known to him. It was reported that the dead man’s five-year-old son was hit on his left leg by one of the six shots fired by the men.
The shooting is said to have occurred around 17:00 hrs on the day.
It is also alleged that on March 3, Mohan, at North Ruimveldt had in his possession a .32 Taurus pistol without being the owner of a firearm licence holder at the time.
And it is also alleged that on the same day in question he had in his possession ten live rounds of .32 ammunition without being a licensed firearm holder at the time.
The man, who was unrepresented pleaded not guilty to both charges after they were read to him.
The first suspect to be charged with the murder is Rickford Jones, 24, of Lot 3093 North Ruimveldt, Georgetown. He is currently on trial before Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Mohan was remanded to prison and he will make his next court appearance on March 30.
