“In the circumstances,” the Board of the National Industrial and Commercial Investment Inc. (NICIL) has found it best to appoint Horace James as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
A public missive released by NICIL noted that at a meeting held on Friday, the Board of Directors made two appointments, James as CEO of NICIL and Emmet Alves as Head of Linmine Secretariat.
James has been performing the duties of Officer-in Charge of NICIL since January 2016 following the departure of Winston Brassington. His appointment is effective from March 1.
NICIL said that over the last few months, the technical and management skills and experience of 14 external and internal candidates were evaluated by both the Board and independent assessors “and finally James emerged as the most suitable in the circumstances.”
James is a United Kingdom-trained engineer. He serves as Head of Linmine Secretariat and CEO of the Linden Electricity Company from 2003 to 2015. No mention was made about the qualifications and experiences of James competitors.
Emmet Alves who has been performing the duties of the Head of the Linmine Secretariat since January has been confirmed in that position with effect from March 1.
Alves is a UG and Russia trained mining engineer, who since 2003 had been responsible for managing a number of Linmine engineering and environmentally related projects, including the Mackenzie-Wismar bridge.
