Dear Editor,
I have been in town for a very long time, and so qualify for making sound judgement and predictions. Things I have been observing remind me of a thoughtful quotation I saw years ago which says; “three times when not to take a man’s word – when he is running for office, when he is drunk and when he is madly in love.” Dear reader I know that sooner than later you will come around to agree with me that this APNU+AFC administration is ‘cooking with smoke’.
I say further that the impecunious conditions of the masses will get deeper and wider as rogue sophisticated elements with access to the national funds are allowed to embezzle and pillage. Just look at that GOINVEST audited report and tell me if that is not the limit of boldface crass “eye-pass.” Freddie Kissoon again got it smack on when he described it as the ‘ the mother of all corruptibility’ whereby the ‘gentleman’ was given a free reign to do the most damned ride – to ride rough shod over all and sundry. He ruthlessly took an institution and bled it to his heart’s delight and still brazenly walks around chest raised and daring as if nothing is wrong.
Now this is just one such case of unbridled financial abuse, there are many such more but the people in control are too busy to see, while ordinary everyday people are dragged before the courts daily for petty theft and jailed. But that’s the lot of poor folks. The law spends its time hunting them down for the least infringement, while the ruthless bold face top functionary swindlers are untouched. This country operates like a joke; you see so many wrong things that spin you dizzy, and ministers behave like tourists. Corporations and institution are used as milking cows by those heading them. This is the order, continued from where it was left off, while the everyday people are treated like the children of Lazarus.
Here is another confounded nonsense. There is this’ gentleman lord’, rather cocky and full of hubris, who as I have read occupies an office which in effect is nothing more than a sinecure and even negligible assignment he is given, once in a blue moon and for which he is paid about two million dollars per month, which he refuses on the grounds of frivolous objections.
He insists that his academic victories and the esteemed offices he once held must be printed on the envelope and on the letter when sent to him. He is obsessed that the appellations adorn letters sent to him, if not they are rejected and for two million dollars a month! I tell you education has really messed up some folks. Lord have mercy! See why Walter Rodney lives. He was definitely a cut above someone who understood the true purpose and intent of education.
Say what you will about Freddie Kissoon. I have to repeat; he leads the way in being bold, impartially outspoken, he calls a spade a spade. How could the state relentlessly harass and prosecute members of the working class for petty offences and refuse to do the same to those who rob the state of billions through the evasion of various types of taxes? But these offenders will not be touched because they belong to a class that must be protected. This distinction must be made palpable – a situation of big fish small fish. But again, Freddie Kissoon is on target, elections will come and the Govt. will remain a damp squib; no one will be touched except small fries. The kingpins will continue to strut their strut.
