“Untrained first responders do more harm than good at accident scenes,” was the headline of an article in yesterday’s edition of this publication.
However, Dr. Zulfikar Bux, who was at the time speaking in the capacity as Head of Emergency Medical Services Unit, clarified yesterday that while it is better to have trained first responders at the scene of an accident, the lives of injured people are often times dependent on the assistance of Good Samaritans, regardless of whether they have medical training or not.
This is something that Dr. Bux, a weekly contributor to this publication, is planning to provide extensive details on, in his column for next Sunday’s edition.
