Dear Editor,
Please allow me a space in your newspaper so I can awake President Granger and get him to move away from his archaic and dormant impulse, whenever he or his aides read this letter. I must first state that I voted for change with the view that the change will be beneficial to all Guyanese. Me, my family and to an extension friends and colleagues give their support garnered based on following which the APNU AFC Collation was campaigning on:
1. Ridding the country of corruption,
2. Promoting equality and equity,
3. Practicing transparency and accountability,
4. Improving systems of governance,
5. Creating a secure and safe environment,
6. Eliminating cronyism and nepotism,
7. Developing the agriculture sector and having rice farmers earn more for their paddy,
8. Creating a professional public service,
9. Encouraging Private Investments by enhancing a more enable Environment, and
10. Creating jobs for the professionals and youths of Guyana.
Well Mr. President, you have failed us miserable. You have proven to be a very weak. Your lethargic style of leadership leaves more to be desired. President Granger, it is vividly clear that you are not interested in any of the ten things you campaigned on. Your mistakes are many. Some of the daring ones are the Durban Park, the rental of the drug bond, the Parking Meter Project on which you are very silent and your government’s high handed approach of giving out contracts to friends.
During your term in office which is less than two years, you called for several Commissions of Inquiry but to date you have not called any Commissions of Inquiry into GECOM, the Georgetown Mayor and City Council, the Parking Meter Project, the Drug Bond Deal, etc.
So far you have also failed to act on the recommendations made in the Commission of Inquiry into the Ministry of Public Health procurement saga. Why is your government not giving priority to the financing and operation of the Integrity Commission and the Ethnic Relation Commission? Your ineptitude in addressing the parking meter scandal and VAT on education, water and electricity will cause the coalition to lose over 30,000 votes in the next General Election.
It is time that Guyanese wake up and call for justice. The legal professionals need to help Guyanese in this fight against these acts committed by APNU AFC Government that are eroding Guyanese future. They must educate people on their constitutional rights under various legislations.
