March 12 is Phagwah

The Ministry of Public Security yesterday announced that Sunday March 12 will be Phagwah. According to the ministry, there have been enquiries from the public on the date.
The ministry said that the “Honourable Vice President and Minister of Public Security has declared March 12, 2017 as the date for Phagwah.”
Consequent upon Phagwah falling on a Sunday, and by virtue of application of Sections 3 (1) and (2) of the Public Holidays Act, Chapter 19:07, Monday March 13, 2017 will be a public holiday, the ministry said.
