Feb 20, 2017 Letters
Dear Editor,
With reference to a letter which was published in the Kaieteur News on 15 February, 2017, titled ‘The management team at GuySuCo earns G$14.1M per month’ and written by Mr. Sookram Persaud. As indicated in our letter dated 2 February, 2017, Mr. Sookram Persaud was invited to meet with us to discuss his concerns.
Instead, Mr. Sookram Persaud opted not to take us up on our offer to meet but continues to write. It is very evident to us that Mr. Persaud has a personal problem with the leadership of GuySuCo. He persists in misleading the readers with his perceived intimate knowledge of GuySuCo but effectively writing on the basis of ignorance of the facts surrounding the issues he writes about, the most recent being in relation to the Skeldon factory.
We at GuySuCo have reason to believe that Mr. Sookram Persaud is a pseudonym for a former executive of this Corporation. This person parted company with GuySuCo under the previous administration and applied to return after the change in Board and management in June/July, 2015. Upon review of the individual’s past performance, we concluded that he could not be rehired since his past performance left much to be desired. There were weaknesses in the manner in which he discharged his responsibilities, weaknesses in character and poor leadership. If Mr. Sookram Persaud is this person then we can only conclude that he is pursuing a vendetta against the present leadership team. This is an opportunity for him to stand up and be counted by issuing an appropriate rebuttal.
If Mr. Sookram Persaud is indeed Mr. Sookram Persaud, then we repeat our invitation for him to meet with us so that we can enlighten him on the realities of GuySuCo as it relates to the matters he has raised in the media. Should Mr. Persaud not come forward, then we are left to conclude that he is the former executive described above and we may therefore feel obligated to release his name.
