Dear Sports Editor,
I just want to let the public know that there are some people going around using my name here in the United States of America and Guyana saying that I am putting on a fund raiser for athletes who would be attending the Penn Relays. I would like to inform you that I am not putting on any dance with no one man band on Saturday 18th of February at 1074 Rogers Ave Brooklyn, New York.
I would like to say that this is a malicious act to tarnish my name and to get funds and attention for themselves. Also I would like to warn the Guyanese Public and to make them aware that before I, Andy Medas-King, started to come back to home to Guyana and promote track and field and enlighten the Guyanese athletes, there were no one coming to Guyana to do anything so let me set the records straight.
Also, I may be the only person that is doing this without looking to get any money or benefits in return, I am doing this from the heart and don’t make a cent from what I am doing. Instead I take money from me and my family’s account to do whatever I am doing.
I would also like to set the records straight, that a lot of parents before sending your kids to the USA, research where they are going because Kingsborough College and ASA College are junior Colleges; it’s like going to a community high school, check your facts online. Also it would be better off your kids stay in Guyana and get an Education because it’s better. I would also tell you that it would take you about four years to get an Associate Degree at anyone of these Colleges unlike going to a regular College where you would take two years instead.
Many of these people who come back to Guyana saying that they are helping, I have never seen them at any track meet and I am well known in New York by all the Officials because of my oldest daughter who I coached and sent to college on a full Scholarship through track and field, and have coached my 10-year-old to many championship titles, also USATF Athlete of the year title.
Parents, coaches and family members be vigilant and everyone of you have a cell phone, double check where these people are coming from. I am also a certified USATF level one coach here in the USA. So as to conclude my message to the Guyanese public, be aware of scammers the work that I am doing is not for a profit it is from my heart and I am not in any way trying to get money from people for my benefit, everything I do is for the good of my beloved country Guyana.
