A fire of unknown origin destroyed a two-storey home at Agricola East Bank Demerara,
and left a family of five homeless.
According to a resident who occupied the lower flat of the building, he was not at home at the time of the incident and could not say what exactly caused the fire. “I was up the street when somebody called me and tell me that my house is on fire. By the time I reach I see the whole house in flames.”
The man further stated that he resided at the property with his spouse and three children, and that no one lived in the top flat of the building.
“Up there lock up”, he said.
