A three hour-long emergency meeting in relation to the parking meter issue was held last evening at State House, involving President David Granger, Local Government Minister Ronald Bulkan, Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs Basil Williams, City Mayor Patricia Chase-Green and Town Clerk Royston King.
There are reports that as a result of the meeting, a reduction of the parking meter fees is imminent, but Kaieteur News was unable to confirm this. .
The current rates plus 14 percent VAT are GYD$50 per 15 minutes of parking; garaged parking of up t0 GYD$175 per 15 minutes; parking violations GYD$6,000 ; booting fee of GYD$8,000; towing fee of GYD$12,000 and storage fee of GYD$7,000 per 24 hours.
