David Bernard, 28, of Lot 121 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown yesterday made an appearance in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Faith McGusty to answer to the charge of attempt to commit a felony.
The charge read that on January 30, last, at Kingston Georgetown, he attempted to rob Leon Blackman.
The unemployed man pleaded not guilty.
Police Prosecutor Sean Blackman objected to bail citing the serious nature of the offence.
Information presented by the Prosecutor stated that on the day in question, Blackman was on his way home from work when he was cornered by two individuals who were riding bicycles and were armed with screwdrivers.
The men approached Blackman and told him to hand over his valuables.
After spotting the Police patrol nearby Blackman managed to run away from the two armed men and raised an alarm.
After he made contact with the Police officers he told them what had occurred and the Police officers immediately went in Bernard’s direction and were able to apprehend him on his bicycle while the other suspect was able to escape.
Bernard when given a chance to address the court stated that he was at the time relaxing on the Seawalls where he went to try to overcome some domestic troubles because he was unemployed and was having difficulties in finding a job.
