Guyana’s Kristian Jeffrey produced two days of top class driving over the last weekend to be crowned champion driver at the Radical Winter Cup Challenge Series, at Bushy Park in Barbados.
The former two-time Caribbean Motor Racing Championship title holder was in dominant form on both days, registering four first places, a third and seventh place to wrap up an outstanding display at the start of the new season.
According to his father Kevin, who spoke with Kaieteur Sport yesterday, the young Jeffrey’s performance was impressive as he beat some of the top drivers in the Series including the Maloney clan Sean, Mark and Stuart.
On Saturday, Jeffrey qualified second on the grid and raced to victory ahead of Suleman Esuf and Mark Maloney in that order.
He returned in the second race and finished third, before hitting the top spot in his third race of the day to be crowned individual champion.
The following day saw no let up in his dominance and he started off with a superb performance in the opening event to win ahead of Maloney brothers Stuart and Sean.
The next race saw him get involved in an incident after tussling with the Maloney brothers for a podium finish, but was sent off the track, before returning to finish seventh.
In the final race of the day, Jeffrey produced a staggering drive to claim the top podium spot and be crowned champion driver once again and subsequently the overall champion.
