Employees of GTT last week donated more than $1M in care items to the residents
of the Palms.
Almetra Reis, Customer Service Representative, who spoke on behalf of GTT employees at the presentation held at the Palms Institute, said the idea was to recognise the residents for their service to Guyana over the years.
“We challenged ourselves to Do More and we came up with this Shoe Box Challenge to give back … because we care and we will do more for you – the elderly, the young and everyone in Guyana,” she said.
The Shoe Box Challenge was for employees to package shoe boxes with care items suitable for residents of the Palms. The institution was identified given its close proximity to GTT and also because the staff felt that often the elderly are forgotten in benevolence activities.
“The response was very heartening. Employees including Engineers, Technicians, Customer Care Representatives, Clerical, Managers and the Executive Management participated in the shoe box challenge. Employees had approximately three weeks in which to complete the challenge.”
