Dear Editor,
I am calling on the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports and all National Sporting body to raise the bar by developing a modern multipurpose sports complex in Region 2. I am identifying north of the New Opportunity Corps compound for such development. There is an abundance of land space there; going south to north from the students holding area, it is over 700 feet. Going east to west is over one mile, so land shouldn’t be a problem. It is a known fact cricket, football, athletics, basketball, culture, swimming and a host of other disciplines are hoping for a place where true development can take place all year in the region.
The complex must be equipped with accommodations to house all 10 Regions when there are national activities more so the National Athletics Championships. I am sure that I am not alone as a resident of Region 2 who would love to see the return of the National Athletics championship to our region. My fellow Region 2 residents let our voices be heard as we ask for real commitment and respect for our athletes and sports development for us in the Cinderella county. The time is right to give Cinderella her due. Build the complex; give every discipline a home in one compound. Give the region a new image. Build a complex here, please.
