A father of two on Sunday night lost his life after losing control of his motorcycle along the Washington Road, West Coast Berbice.
Dead is 33-yera-old Zafheed ‘Leonard’ Jameer, a farmer, and father of two.
During a visit to his mother’s residence at Tempe Village, West Coast Berbice, where he was staying for the past couple of months, this publication briefly spoke to Joyceline Jameer, who related the events leading up to the time she heard of her son’s demise.
According to the pensioner: “I come from church sunday about 1 o’clock and he went out and buy channa for me and he sister. We were sitting on the front step and he bring the channa and then he went inside and bathe then lil bit after I see him ride out pon the dam with the motorbike”.
The woman disclosed that just around midnight she received a call stating that her son had met with an accident and died.
Mustering the courage to elaborate more on what went wrong when her son met his death, she told Kaieteur News that her son was imbibing at a popular drinking spot earlier in the day. “He was drinking and then he ride to carry some money fuh he daughter. The daughter had to go on a tour.”
It is her belief that because of the fact that he had been drinking, the man lost control of his motorcycle which resulted in him slamming into a utility pole in the same village that his daughter resides.
From reports gathered, he died on the spot. Traffic ranks showed up shortly after the accident and took him to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The man leaves to mourn his two children, ages 12 and 7, mother and siblings.
