A 27-year-old man was yesterday remanded to prison for robbery under-arms by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
It is alleged that on August 22, last, Leon Blades of Paradise Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, armed with a shot gun, robbed Joshua Mohamed of two cellular phones, two flashlights and one ounce of raw gold, all totalling $284,000. The incident occurred at Arau Mountain Top, Essequibo River,
Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones opposed bail for the defendant based on the fact that he provided police with conflicting addresses. The prosecutor also pointed out the nature and gravity of the offence and the fact that a gun was used to commit the act.
The Chief Magistrate remanded Blades to prison until January 9, when he will make his next appearance.
