A fireman has been hospitalized with chop wounds after fighting off bandits.
According to reports, Mesimba Sampson, 30, was at home in One Mile Extension, Wismar on Wednesday night when he heard a noise outside and somebody calling his name.
Sampson, who is attached to the Linden Fire Station, opened his door and saw four men, one of whom was armed with a gun.
Sampson reportedly scrambled with the armed man but was chopped by one of the other men.
Dripping with blood, the wounded fireman ran to the Wisroc Police Outpost where he gave them the gun he had taken away.
He was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex before later being transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
The police are said to be investigating.
