The Essequibo Cricket Board has named their team to contest the upcoming Guyana Cricket Board 50-over franchise league following two
trial matches that were held over the weekend.
In the first game played at Pomona on Saturday, Royan Fredericks XI defeated Akeni Adams XI by three wickets. Batting first, Adams XI scored 212-7 in 35 overs. Huckumchand Savitir made 65 while Ricardo Peters got 39; Imran Khan grabbed 4-18. Fredericks XI responded with 213-7 in 33 overs. Lennox Andrews struck 88 and Kamal Khan made 25. Adams claimed 3-26 and pacer Leorayan Ramlakhan 2-42.
In the second game played on Sunday at Imam Bacchus ground, Anthony Adams XI beat Fredericks XI by 148 runs. Adams XI took first strike and posted 266-7 in 50 overs. Ricardo Adams struck four fours and eight sixes in scoring 105, while Chetram Persaud got 44 and Parmesh Parsotam 25. Fredericks had 3-40. Fredericks XI were 118-8 when the game was called off. Nokta Moses scored 31 and Ryan Adams 26; Wayne Osbourne snared 2-17, Ricardo Adams 2-18 and Kevin Gordon 2-24.
The team selected reads; Ronsford Beaton, Anthony Adams, Keemo Paul, Kevon Boodie, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ricardo Adams, Kevin Gordon, Parmesh Parsotam, Ricardo Peters, Avinash Persaud, Wayne Osborne, Nokta Moses and Chetram Persaud. The stand bys are Rovendra Parsram, Imran Khan, Rayon Fredericks, Hukumchand Savitir and Lennox Andrews.
