Coming on the heels of the visit by representatives of the US Embassy, the Counselor and Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Yang Chenqi, and Director of the Comprehensive Office Mr. Jianguo Mao, met with Regional Chairman

Renis Morian, and Mayor Carwyn Holland. The meeting took place last Wednesday at the Watooka Complex to discuss business ventures in the Region especially in the town of Linden.
Regional Chairman Morian told media operatives that among the development and activities discussed with the Chinese Delegation are the construction of the road from Linden to Lethem and the rehabilitation of the airstrip which is second to none in the country.
Morian said that the main focus is to deal with the development of businesses and they are encouraging investors to come to Region Ten as the main destination. He noted that if you are talking job creation it has to be for men and women because according to Morian, women in Region Ten are ready to work.
“Another component that I’m passionate about is the youths. Hence, I am championing the whole cause that when companies come to Region Ten to work in 2017, I will have to call and not only myself but a team of us on behalf of the region to take a position as it relates to the numbers employed from Linden.
“Some of them come with their own staff. We want to have a true representation on the workforce that is entering Region Ten. Primarily, we are looking to win our young people in various life styles. “
The Regional Chairman said that he is employing the arts and culture because youths are hooked on music and dance. He noted that the Mayor and himself have a passion to follow to make Linden rise. He claimed that based on their recent trip to China they decided to make a proposal for Region Ten. He also noted that meeting with representatives of another Embassy in two days speaks volumes that people are interested in doing business with Region Ten.
Mayor Carwyn Holland thanked the Chinese Delegation for making their first visit to Linden. “We are very grateful that you have seen Linden and Region Ten as a whole as a prospective region for Chinese businesses and we want to also assure you of our benefits of investing.”
Counselor and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Republic of China in Guyana, Yang Chenqi, shared the same sentiments as the Chairman with regards of engaging the youths in Arts and Culture. He posited that he was impressed by the proposal made by the Chairman and that there is great potential in the Linden.
Also present were representatives from the Linden Hospital Complex, BOSAI, Commander of E Division Snr. Superintendent Fazil Karimbaskh and Deputy Mayor Waneka Arindell.
