Brazilian National Makael Jackson DaSilva was yesterday remanded to prison for the murder of
Ked Lewis, whose body was found with multiple injuries in a pit at Dukwari Backdam, Cuyuni River last week Wednesday.
DaSilva, 24, of Iracema, Boa Vista, Brazil was not required to plead to the indictable charge after it was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan yesterday, in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
The unrepresented man who spoke to the court through a Portuguese interpreter, will return to court on December 15, at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court.
According to reports, Lewis of Quataman Village, North Rupununi, was in the company of Jackson at around 16:00hrs on November 29.
However, at around 10:00hrs the next day, the General Manager of the camp and a group of workers discovered Lewis’s body in the pit after they followed a trail of blood some distance away from the camp.
