Almost two dozen Guyanese deportees arrived from the United States of America (USA) around 15:00 hrs yesterday, having served lengthy jail sentences for various offences.
Kaieteur News understands that among those deported are persons who were convicted for murder, drug trafficking and drug smuggling, robbery, rape and other offences.
These persons will be monitored for a stint.
When the chartered plane arrived at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, the ex-convicts were escorted to the police Criminal Investigation Department, Eve Leary, under tight security for processing.
Some of them had left Guyana as very small children and knew no one here. Others had relatives who turned up at the CID Headquarters to escort them to a place of residence.
