Dear Editor,
It was with a sense of profound amazement that I read your article in Kaieteur News edition of 29 October headed; ”Sam Hinds was nice to me but”. What floored me completely was Freddie Kissoon’s statement which read as fallows “When Mr. Hinds was in charge of the bauxite industry under President Burnham, he signed the dismissal notices of a number of workers” I refrained from commenting on the article until now since I was awaiting what I thought would have been Mr. Sam Hinds’ vehement refutation of the statement, but it appears as though he either missed it or is prepared to take a bow on the honour Freddie extended to him. I happen to have been intimately involved with the Bauxite Industry for the entire period it was under the control of Mr. Burnham, and even Mr. Hoyte, and cannot recall any period during which Mr. Sam Hinds was in charge of the industry much more had anything to do with the signing of dismissal notices for a number of workers. I would appreciate if Mr. Kissoon would be honest enough to enlighten me on the exact period when Mr. Sam Hinds was in charge of the bauxite industry and when did he sign dismissal notices for workers.
Sylvester Carmichael
