Two men yesterday appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly to answer to the charge of corrupt transaction.
Jevon Patterson and Rommel Guttery were granted bail to the tune of $50,000 each, after it was alleged that the two took money from Stabroek News photographer Keno George under the pretext of helping him to recover his stolen camera.
It is alleged that on October 19, at Camp Street, Georgetown, the two corruptly obtained $50,000 from the Virtual Complainant, in order to help him recover his camera.
The camera was valued at $400,000 and two camera lens $600,000.
Both defendants reside at 112 South Sophia
Police Prosecutor Neville Jeffers did not object to bail and told the court that the articles were recovered.
The accused will make their next court appearance on November 10 for statements.
George and another photographer, Terrence Thompson, along with two models were on September 28, 2016 robbed at gun point, on Hadfield Street behind D’Urban Park. George was relieved of his personal belongings which valued at more than 1M.
According to reports, George was doing a photo shoot with the models around 16:00 hrs when two men approached them from behind, one with a gun and the other with a knife, and carried out the robbery.
