After several months of interviewing, it appears that the all-important Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) has chosen a new chief.
Yesterday, the Board of Directors approved Lelon Saul as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Saul, who reportedly worked with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) from 2012, came out tops in a field of 20-plus persons interviewed for the position.
A retired Lt. Colonel of the Guyana Defence Force, Saul recently testified in the public inquiry into the conditions facing veterans. He is qualified in public management.
Also approved was a new acting Chief Financial Officer, Reaz Abrahim.
The new Chief Development Planner is Germene Stewart. She had been acting in that position for some time now.
According to Government sources, the names of the appointees will be forwarded to Cabinet for endorsement.
Seven persons had reportedly applied for the CFO position, with Stewart among the three shortlisted.
The interview team was headed by accountant Ronald Alli, who heads the Finance Committee of the CH&PA’s Board of Directors.
Stewart reportedly has been with CH&PA for a number of years.
Among the 20-odd applying for the CEO position, three were women.
