Eight persons are now in custody after Police Ranks of ‘D’ Division intercepted the group in the village of Zeelugt, West Coast Demerara.
According to Commander of ‘D’ Division Leslie James, officers seized $58,000 in counterfeit notes from the seven men and one woman.
He said that ranks acted on intelligence received and around 8:30 hrs on Thursday made the arrest. James said that all eight persons originate from New Amsterdam, Berbice. The Commander told Kaieteur News that the persons are expected to make a court appearance soon.
