-in recognition of World Sight Day 2016
DaSilva’s Optical, South Road Georgetown, yesterday recognised World Sight Day by testing the eyes of children from three orphanages. The World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness held to focus attention on blindness and vision impairment.
Dr. Shannon DaSilva and staff were encouraged by this year’s World Sight Day motto, ‘Stronger Together’ to do their part as eye care professionals.
The children who required glasses received it free of charge from DaSilva’s Optical. Dr. Shannon DaSilva and Dr. Imran Khan performed the tests on the children.
The orphanages selected were within close proximity of the eye clinic because of transportation constraints. However, Auto Rentals came on board and provided transportation for one of the orphanages.
The children were from, St. Ann’s Girls Orphanage, Thomas Street; Joshua House Orphanage, also on Thomas Street and Shaheed Boys and Girls Orphanage, in Alexander Street, Kitty.
