Dear Editor;
Can you believe it will be 19 years on October 1, 2016 since the establishment of 98.1 Hot FM on NCN Radio? But this station has not moved up the ladder to coincide with its number of years of being on the air. Berbicians still cannot pick up its signals nor can the online web streams be accessed (I’ve written umpteen times about that). From Fuzzy Sattaur to Molly to this present CEO (now also under fire), not one of them has listened to the call to have this station accessible to the entire nation!
What a shame and disgrace! CEO after CEO has taken the helm of this organisation but none has seen it fit to improve the broadcast quality as well as standards of its slew of radio stations. I daresay NCN radio has become irrelevant, being replaced by more modern-based and higher quality radio stations over the years. What is needed perhaps is a revamp of State radio in Guyana like the revamp of the State-owned paper. While NCN 98.1 Hot FM remains Guyana’s first and oldest FM station, it has only suffered mismanagement over its nearly two decade old history.
