Double header on tomorrow; Den Amstel, Stewartville and Wales are latest winners
Two more matches in the ongoing West Demerara Football Association / Stag sponsored Senior League will be played tomorrow at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground from 14:00hrs when Stewartville will be locking horns with Wales United.
Both sides have recorded contrasting wins in their previous encounters last weekend and will each fancy their chances of building on that when they face off. The feature attraction brings together Uitvlugt Warriors and Beavers.
Meantime, in latest results, Den Amstel, coming from behind edged Eagles FC in a thrilling 5 goal battle, 3-2. Eagles applied early pressure on the home team when they took the lead six minutes on through the first of two goals that came off the boot of Orlanzo Henry.
Den Amstel, after settling down responded in like manner when Aklister Lynch also scored the first of two goals to draw his team level in the 19th minute. The home team would then take the lead in the 32nd minute thanks to a Kevaughn Ward strike but Eagles cancelled that advantage with one minute to half time when Henry completed his double.
The second half was all set to be a thrilling affair and that it was as both teams showed that they were not ready to give in as the exchanges were even. But it was the home team that would ease ahead on 67 minutes courtesy of Lynch’s second goal of the match; it turned out to be the game winner.
In the other match on Sunday last, Stewartville were winners via the walk over route as a result of Vegae Boys’ non-appearance.
In the lone match on Saturday, a lone goal from Seon Lynch was all that was needed for Wales United to take full points in their clash with Jetty Gunners. Lynch rocked the nets in the 39th minute to seal the deal for his side.
