At approximately 04:00hrs yesterday morning, the No. 1 & 2 Turbines at the Skeldon Co-generation plant, Corentyne, East Berbice, shut down during an attempt to start the shredder at the Skeldon factory.
According to the Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL), as a result, there was a shutdown of the Demerara-Berbice Interconnected System.
However, West Coast Demerara residents were not affected, GPL said.
“Restorations efforts commenced within 12 minutes of the shutdown with the last area being repowered at 5:28 hrs. GPL regrets the inconvenience caused.”
