Dear Editor;
Allow me a few lines to shed light on the nonsense of the Ministry of Health. The country’s medical sector is functioning as though it is practicing primitive medicine from the 1800s. Friday, September 16th at about 5:50 p.m., two individuals (one female and one male) came to my gate and tried to talk to me about what is called medication. Immediately I asked to see an ID card and the woman stated, “We are from the Ministry of Health,” as though I was supposed to be impressed.
The male never spoke. The woman stated that they were not provided any (ID), and I told her that without an ID card I will not speak with them and she stated, “It is your prerogative” and they walked away. I am certain if the two individuals had approached Fred Kissoon’s gate the Ministry of Health would have had to answer questions, and rightfully so, as to why non-medical personnel are pimping medication without ID cards.
Unfortunately, the Ministry of Health and for that matter the government is doing whatever they want without oversight or accountability, ripping away at the fabric of their supporters, and cuddling the corruption learned from the PPP/C.
Although I am a strong supporter of the Coalition Government, I take a stance that George Norton is unfit to be the nation’s health care chief, through his failure of basic leadership. Looking from an outside lens at the government, it is unequivocally clear that Norton has bad advisors or should we say wrong advisors, and people without even peripheral vision. My experiences with a number of physicians, nurses, pharmacists and administrators (managers) in the Guyana health field are incompetent at best, whereby I wouldn’t even have my pet treated by one of them.
Considering the high volume of robberies, home invasion, murders, and other crimes, how is it that these leaders of the poor health care system are sending non-medical personnel without ID cards to dispense medication? This is a clear reflection of George Norton’s poor leadership skills. Further, as it stands, any of these government officials on both sides of the turf could pick-up themselves and rush off to one of the ABC countries for medical treatment.
For argument sake, the two people could have been robbers or for that matter dispensing tainted medication. I do not appreciate the Ministry of Health sending anyone to my gate without ID cards, nor non-medical personnel with medication.
