Saturday last was not a good day for two of the three Under-17 teams from the Village of Buxton as they both suffered losses when play in the GFF/ NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power National Under-17 Intra Association league continued at the Melanie ground, East Coast Demerara.
Buxton Stars suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat at the hands of Golden Stars which was led by Shamar Kingston who blasted a hat-trick. In the other match, Bachelor’s Adventure Paradise Sports Club eased to a 4-2 win over Buxton Youth Developers.
Golden Stars ended up shining brighter than their counterparts from Buxton Stars and this was orchestrated by three goals off the boot of Shamar Kingston who rocked the back of the nets in the 18th, 31st and 48th minute.
Try as they did, Buxton were just not able to find an answer or counter to the rampant boys from Golden Stars. Joining the goal spree was DeLeon Skeete who was on target in the 30th minute; while the other goals were netted by Cevon Montrose and Michael Woods in the 60th and 64th minute respectively.
In the afternoon’s other match, Bachelor’s Adventure Paradise Sports Club raced to an unassailable 4-0 advantage by the end of the first half in their clash against Buxton Youth Developers.
Teshaun Gordon converted in the 30th and 40th minute to put the game beyond the reach of Buxton Stars. The advantage was initially set by strikes off the boot of Ingram Charles who opened the scoring in the 9th minute; doubling the advantage was Colin Hendricks in the 22nd minute.
Despite the fact that Bachelor’s Adventure were not able to find the back of the nets in the second half, they had done enough in the first 45 minutes to secure full points. The second half was all Buxton Youth Developers as they fired in two unanswered goals through Jaffrel Williams in the 57th and Akeem Adams in the 75th.
But it was not enough to even bring them level much more produce an unlikely win as the lads from Bachelor’s Adventure Paradise left the venue smiling.
