The final of this year’s edition of the Mayor’s Cup football championship will be played tomorrow at the Tucville ground, preceded by the third place playoff starting at 7:00pm. However, a7-a-side Inter Ward/Village competition sponsored by the Sparta Family will open the day’s action from 3:00pm.
Giant Killers Police will tackle Western Tigers in the championship match at 9:00pm, while the third place playoff will pit Federal Winners Connection against Ann’s Grove.
The mini football extravaganza starts at 3:00pm with teams contesting for the Sparta Family trophy and $50,000. The action opens with Sophia facing Golden Grove in the opening match, at 3:30pm Kingston battle Uitvlugt, Albouystown clash with Grove at 4:00pm and North East La Penitence challenge Buxton at 4:30pm. The winners advance for the chance to play for the cash prize.
The Mayor’s Cup champs will claim the top prize of $700,000 and a trophy donated by Aruwai Resort. The second place team pockets $300,000 and the Ansa McAl trophy, while the third place team carts off $200,000 and the John Fernandes trophy. The fourth place finishers will receive $100,000 and the Ministry of State trophy. Ricks and Sari has also donated hampers which will go to the winning team, while tournament’s top goal scorer will get a three piece suite compliments of AH&L Kissoon Furniture Store.
