The Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) has says that tripped feeders, on Thursday afternoon, were what caused customers from Nandy Park to Hope, East Bank Demerara (EBD), to experience hours of outages.
Following the trip – which occurred shortly before 19:00 hrs – emergency services commenced a thorough inspection of lines, which revealed burnt primary transmission lines at Farm, EBD, as the contributing factor of the feeder trip.
Some consumers in the affected areas – between Nandy Park and Mocha – started to receive power around 21:00 hrs with the all remaining communities being repowered by 00:00hrs, GPL said.
”In an effort to effect permanent remedial work; electricity was temporarily disconnected at 11:20 hrs today (yesterday) to replace the burnt mains and subsequently restored at 13:21 hrs.”
