Dear Editor,
Contractors that cut corners for profit should be criminally negligible for injuries and fatalities caused by substandard work. Moreover, those involve such as safety inspectors, bribery and responsible for criminal behavior should also be criminally prosecuted. It is unimaginable to think that kids would fall through concrete floors at a newly constructed school. Separately, every contractor should be bonded and insured. Moreover, the bank or government entity should engage a construction monitor to approve payments after achieving certain milestones. Lastly, a whistleblower protection law should be passed to reward and protect whistle-blowing. Such a law will allow for the sharing of fines resulting from convictions.
