Dear Editor,
I see a large contingent of the Caricom staff renting premises from a single person in Happy Acres on the East Coast Demerara. Is this normal?
I do not see too many diplomatic missions present in those numbers in this place. Is there some unnatural collusion between some persons within Caricom and this person? This would be wrong. Other than wrong, it would lead to an eventual increase in cost to Caricom which is already a drain on the national coffers of member states.
The Secretary General and his deputy must look into this if they have not already noticed how unusual this is. Isn’t this also impractical? If this area is to suffer some natural disaster such as flooding, wouldn’t Caricom then have to find alternative accommodations? This would result in more expenditure. The bottom line is that if there is collusion between Caricom and this property owner; it is wrong.
