A 55-year-old businessman was killed early yesterday morning, after he was stabbed to the neck with an arrow by his drinking partner at his Four Miles, Port Kaituma grocery.
Dead is Ramsammy Narine of Lot 27 Best Road, West Coast Demerara. He also operated a gas station.
Kaieteur News understands that while the killer remains at large, an accomplice was found hiding in his back-yard with the bloodied arrow in his possession.
The accomplice had reportedly doused Narine, a father of five, with gasoline, before the other man stabbed him.
Narine’s killer has been identified as a 37-year-old porknocker from Five Miles Port Kaituma.
Reports reaching this newspaper revealed that Narine, the porknocker and another man were imbibing alcohol at the businessman’s premises at around 04:00hrs, when an argument ensued. A scuffle broke out between Narine and the porknocker.
Narine’s 17-year-old son Andrew Narine, then closed the shop.
The porknocker reportedly left, while Narine and the other man continued drinking.
However, the porknocker later returned with a neighbour who drenched Narine with gasoline before the porknocker stabbed him with the arrow.
They then made good their escape. Their victim succumbed shortly after.
Narine reportedly moved to the area about six weeks ago, after purchasing the business from his brother.
