a match haul of 10-80 on one of the better pitches at a local ground, to hand Lower Corentyne an emphatic innings and 122-run victory with almost a day and a session to spare in the first round GCB Jaguars three-day League against Essequibo which ended yesterday at the Tuschen Community Centre ground on the East Bank of Essequibo.

Resuming on their overnight 173-2 with Foo on 106 and Gajanand Singh on 25, the Berbicians scored quickly and added 182 for the third wicket as they put their foot on gas from the word go before Foo was LBW to Anthony Adams at 246. The pugnacious right hander batted for 205 minutes, faced 93 balls, reached the boundary 13 times and cleared it on 11 occasions.
The left-handed Singh, who faced 79 balls and batted 114 minutes and struck five fours and two sixes, also fell to Anthony Adams for 52 at 250-4.
David Latchaya blasted the ball to all parts of the fast and well manicured outfield and added 60 with Hakim Hinds (10) in quick time as he dominated the stand.
Latchaya entertained the enthusiastic crowd who turned out on a day when the t20 in Florida game was played. He played an array of delightful shots and galloped to 68 from just 50 balls and 78 minutes. Latchaya

hit seven fours and five sixes, three of them off consecutive deliveries off Skipper Ronsford Beaton.
He eventually departed at 352-6 before the Adams siblings (Anthony & Akenie) mopped up the innings just after Lunch, which was taken at 355-8.
Akenie finished with 5-41, while Anthony supported with 3-112 for Essequibo who were set 281 to avoid an innings defeat.
Royan Fredericks, who struck six fours in his 28, added 33 for the first wicket with Kevin Boodie (16).
Fredericks stroked Neil Smith down the ground for four before punching him off the back foot to the cover boundary, while Boodie climbed into Smith and smashed him for four in an over which cost 13.
Fredericks pulled Johnson for four and gave himself room and slapped Permaul for a boundary and fans present were dancing to the pulsating music of ‘Lil things Sounds Systems’ as both openers played with plenty of positivity.

Nestled in an agricultural setting, the ground produced a wonderful atmosphere for a local encounter with the Community supporting the biggest match at the well kept venue. The sunshine was brilliant as a cooling breeze ruffled the branches of the several coconut trees outside the ground.
The ground announcer provided scores on the game with the West Indies match in Florida, while the DJ played Dave Martin’s ‘We are the Champions and DJ Bravo ‘Champions’ when Bravo dismissed Dhoni off the last ball to give West Indies a one-run win.
But the fans were soon silenced when Permaul trapped Boodie and Ricardo Peters LBW in successive balls to leave the hosts on 33-2.
When Fredericks and Parmesh Parsotram (8) departed in the space of six runs to leave 59-4 it appeared that victory was just a formality but in came Ricardo Adams and the crowd was brought back to life.
The left-hander who lives in the street just behind was in a no nonsense mood and hit Permaul for a four and a six before clobbering the expensive Permaul for consecutive sixes to post his 50 from just 21 balls.
Adams seemed motivated when the announcer disclosed that $20,000 was up for grabs if an Essequibian reached a century and $20,000 for any bowler who took a 10-wicket match haul.
Avinash Persaud who added 68 with Adams for the sixth wicket, smashed Johnson for a six and a four in two balls, but when Persaud (18) departed at 127-5 and Adams threw his wicket away when he hit a long-hop from Gajanand Singh straight to the fielder on the deep mid-wicket boundary four runs later, Permaul cleaned up the tail as the game ended at 15:37hrs yesterday.
Foo and Permaul received $20,000 each for making a ton and taking 10 wickets respectively. The cash was handed over by Fazeela Nasrudeen, the daughter of Tuschen Community Centre Committee secretary Shazim Nasrudeen on behalf of A&S Lumber Yard.
Both Coaches praised the quality of the pitch and the ground which has been only given one game in this League.
President of the ground Committee Deoram Rai told Kaieteur Sports, Community support was readily available and the neighboring provided three pieces of covers since the GCB only sent two covers.
Nasrudeen explained that the venue provided the music set and the ground announcer, while they intend to put up tents to separate the players from the fans who are accommodated in the same stand if they get any more games at this level.
Businessman Nazir Khan was responsible for all preparations for the ground including the cutting of the grass, providing water and putting an area in place for officials and the media, free of cost.
