Aug 27, 2016 Letters
Dear Editor,
Over the past years and since the 2015 national elections, I have been writing about the things that are being said by members of the PPP on their TV programs here in Berbice. This letter is of no difference, because the PPP continues to mislead Berbicians on the facts and more over trying to create a picture of racism and division.
Every Tuesday nights on NTN Berbice, the former AG is the host of a PPP Political Program and I am very much surprised to hear the nonsense he continues with. Last Tuesday (August 23rd, 2016) night, he attacked the President and Members of the Blairmont Hindu Temple, along with the Government by not stating or telling the facts of the situation. He uses racism to blind the minds of Indians over the years and today he seems as if he will use religion especially my Hindu brothers and sisters for his political gains.
Nandlall seems upset that the President was invited by the members of Blairmont Hindu Temple to commission one of the largest Hindu monuments in the country. His Excellency on Friday 19th August, 2016 journeyed to West Berbice to join our Hindu brothers and sisters in a simple but significant ceremony whereby the said temple unveiled what is said to be the largest Murti of Lord Hanuman in Guyana.
The President was warmly welcomed as the Pandit, executives and members of the temple greeted him on the main access road of Blairmont. Smiles were all over the faces of my Hindu brothers and sisters as the President made his way to listen to the puja and Bhajans that were rendered. His Excellency delivered a very stunning speech and called for national unity amongst all no matter of their race, religion, political affiliation or status in life. He spoke of the work of Lord Hanuman and asked Hindus to continue worshiping together. President Granger said that he is President of all Guyana and not some or one religion, and he wants all to live as one. His speech met with resounding applauses as the message of peace and unity was taken in.
After His Excellency speech, the Pandit told the gathering that he was surprised that President Granger could have given such a speech on Lord Hanuman and that he wants to adopt that speech because it embraces the true meaning of Hinduism, which preaches for peace and unity. But to my surprise Mr. Nandlall sees it fit to mention that the President should have preached what he practices or practice what he preaches, because the children of Blairmont are being discriminated by his administration. He went on to say that the people of Blairmont especially those at the temple should think before they invite the President or should have told the President about what they think of the situation and what is happening.
Nandlall was talking about the school bus transportation that is available free of cost to school children in region 5. Nandlall said that the President should tell the people of Blairmont why the buses are not picking up the school children in that area. He said that one of the buses picks up children from Belladrum and the other picks up from Ithaca.
He mention that places like Bushlot, Bath, Cotton Tree, D’dward, Rosignol and the entire Blairmont are not benefitting from the service. He said that the buses pick up one set of children and leave the others. He said that the people of the temple should look at the small children and fight for their rights, because he is sure some of them attend that very temple. What Nandlall is saying to my knowledge is that the bus is only picking up African Children.
As a resident and regional councilor of region 5, I will like to tell Nandlall that he is misinforming people from the breath that god gave him and he is using it for his personal and political gains by trying to divide and mislead the people. At no time are the drivers of those buses discriminate against any child or the children of region 5. Maybe this lawyer needs to do more research or educate himself more as to the use of the buses and who are benefitting from them. Several mornings I went to Bath and see students joining the bus. I went also to Blairmont several mornings and saw students joining the bus. What is Nandlall problem?.
Nandlall need to understand that the buses can only take a certain amount of students per trip and the trip from Belladrum and Ithaca goes straight to Rosignol and then the buses continue to do other trips. Nandlall needs to understand this is not a train that have different compartments but a simple 32 seater bus. Therefore it can only take 32 passengers on a one side trip. A train will hold hundreds Mr. Nandall.
Nandlall should never have accused the President of such. Moreover he should never have attacked the members of that temple by bringing them in any political fight. He should respect the members of that Temple for their efforts and work towards erecting that monument which is of benefit to the entire community especially my Hindu brothers and sisters. He should commend the members for having one of the largest Hindu Murtis in Berbice and Guyana at large, which cost them close to 1 million Guyana Dollars.
Nandlall is losing his temper because he lost power in 2015. Stop bringing people’s religion in conflict for your gains Mr. Nandlall. I urge the members of the Blairmont Hindu Temple to continue their good work and to provide more classes for our young people. Continue to be the shining example for the community and do not allow narrow- minded persons to drag you in something that have nothing to do with your faith and beliefs. I wish all my brothers and sisters at the Blairmont Hindu temple all the best in the future, as they strive to make Guyana especially, the community of Blairmont a better place through their religion, hard and dedicated work.

The PPP has always been a party of DIVISION,because it figured out, because of the Indians being the majority ethnic group, they can easily exploit them, but I believe the TIDE is TURNING.The more intelligent ones KNOW that this country cannot move forward, without all ethnic groups being included. So,Jagdeo,Nandlall,Rohee and others,TAKE NOTE.YOU CANNOT,and WILL NOT win an election in this COUNTRY AGAIN with RACE being your WEAPON.
