– cites negative publicity
Attorney at law and former Magistrate Chandra Sohan has moved to clear the air as to his involvement
in the ongoing murder trial of Businessman, Dennis Veerasammy, and two of his employees, Basheer Harrinauth and Delroy Fraser which is ongoing before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court, Corentyne, Berbice.
Sohan is also not in agreement with parts of an article printed in the Kaieteur News of Tuesday August 23, last, which quotes him as representing the three accused.
The men are on trial for the murder of Shameer Ali Mursalin. Mursalin was fatally shot on October 24, 2015.
According to Sohan, the article stated that “The three men are being represented by Attorney at law Chandra Sohan.” However according to Sohan, he is not representing the three men and was only retained to represent Veerasammy.
Sohan is also not pleased with the negative publicity that the trial is generating. He emphatically stated that he never had any knowledge of any wrongdoing or underhand transactions in the trial and was merely informed by the contents in the media.
The lawyer stated that he is withdrawing from the trial and would like to dissociate his name from the matter.
The PI into the murder is scheduled to continue on August 29.
