Romello Crawford ready to represent the Golden Arrowhead
Guyana’s lone representative at the 2016 Junior Pan American Track Cycling Championships set for the spanking new 250m Indoor Track in Trinidad and Tobago, Romello Crawford is set to create history as the first junior rider to compete in this event which starts today.
Buzzing with confidence that he would represent well, Crawford will be under the watchful eyes of his T&T Coach Desmond Roberts who is also the President of the PSL Cycling Club which he rides for in the Twin Island Republic.
Roberts has been accredited by the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) to also perform Managerial duties. The young Guyanese rider who will compete in the Sprint, Keirin, Scratch, Elimination Race, Points Race and Omnium events is set to celebrate his 18th birthday on October 18 next.
This event is being hosted for the first time by Trinidad & Tobago under the auspices of the Trinidad and Tobago Cycling Federation (TTCF) at the brand new and world class National Cycling Centre in Balmain, Couva.
The top junior cyclists from the western hemisphere will compete for 19 Pan American titles over five intense days of anticipated thrilling track cycling.
Crawford had missed out on representing Guyana at the just concluded Caribbean Junior Time Trials and Road Race Championships that were held in St. Lucia. He would no doubt be aiming to show what he is capable of doing for himself and nation.
T&T Tyler Cole who won the Time Trials in St. Lucia would be one of the riders competing over the next five days.
