The son of 76-year-old David Ramkissoon, the pensioner who was found in his Better Hope, East Coast
Demerara (ECD) home last Sunday with his throat slashed, has been released on station bail.
Acting Commander of ‘C’ Division, Paul Williams said that the two other persons, who were taken into custody along with the pensioner’s son, were also released. Williams assured that it is an active investigation.
The Divisional Commander pointed out that the dead man’s son was arrested based on the information the police would have received at the scene, compared with the statement the younger Ramkissoon gave to the investigating ranks.
Kaieteur News was told that while the focus of the investigation is a robbery/murder, investigators are exploring other theories, one of which includes a dispute over the man’s property. Police are also still trying to ascertain whether there was indeed $6M stashed in the pensioner’s home.
Ranks who went to the scene, found no signs of forced entry.
David Ramkissoon, called “Shortman”, was found in a pool of blood in the living room of his home at around 19:30 hrs last Sunday.
