On Tuesday, executives of the Essequibo Volleyball Association, along with young volleyball enthusiasts from Capoey Mission, Mainstay, Waramuri, a community in Region One and Bartica participated in a series of practice sessions to form an Essequibo volleyball team who in the future would represent Region Two (Pomeroon /Supenaam).
President of the Essequibo Volleyball, Imran Baskh, said the practice sessions involving youths from across the Region, Bartica and the Pomeroon was to choose good and effective players who would eventually lead to the formation of a single Essequibo team who would represent Region Two in future in competitive competitions.
Baksh said that once the formation of the Essequibo volleyball team has been accomplished, the new team would be ready to compete with a team from Demerara and Berbice on the 3rd, of September.
Baksh is also calling on business entities to reach out in the form of sponsorship to enhance the growth of his young group.
The Essequibo Volleyball Association was established on the 21st, of March2016. Baksh remains the president of the Association while, Ms. Joylyn Ragubeer was named as the Vice president and Andrew Carter the coach.
