The Guyana Badminton Team consisting of SUNBURST Narayan Ramdhani, Jonathan Mangra, Priyanna Ramdhani & Ambika Ramraj claimed the silver medal at the Caribbean Badminton Team Championships 2016 at the Centro Deportivo Sports Hall in Aruba.
Guyana Team beat Suriname 3-2 in the Semi-Finals Tuesday evening with Jonathan Mangra winning the Singles, Narayan Ramdhani & Jonathan Mangra winning the Doubles and the deciding match was Narayan Ramdhani & Priyanna Ramdhani winning the Mix Doubles to take Guyana to the FINALS.
In the Team Championships play is contested in the Boys & Girls Singles, Boys & Girls Doubles & Mix Doubles to get 5 points. To win teams must win three of the Matches to gain 3 points. The Team Captain (Narayan Ramdhani) usually set the players in an order he sees best to win against the opponent by placing his players in the right events with the better combination.
They went down to Dominican Republic 2-3 in the final to earn silver. The won the boys and girls doubles events but lost in the singles and mixed doubles.
Guyana topped Group B by beating Barbados and Aruba, while Group A, Dominican Republic won against Trinidad & Tobago & Suriname.

BOYS DOUBLES: Narayan Ramdhani & Jonathan Mangra defeated Jascha Atmodikromo & Denny Chen:21-9, 21-17
MIX DOUBLES: Narayan Ramdhani & Priyanna Ramdhani defeated Jascha Atmodikromo & Imani Mangroe: 21-7, 21-4
Guyana lost in an exciting final to Dominican Republic 3-2
BOYS SINGLES: Narayan Ramdhani lost to Cesar Brito: 11-21, 15-21
GIRLS SINGLES: Ambika Ramraj lost to Nairobi Jimenez: 4-21, 6-21
BOYS DOUBLES: Narayan Ramdhani & Jonathan Mangra defeated Wilmer Brea & Bryan Castro: 21-16, 21-9
GIRLS DOUBLES: Priyanna Ramdhani & Ambika Ramraj defeated Carmen Garcia & Francesca Matias: 21-9, 21-7
MIX DOUBLES: Jonathan Mangra & Priyanna Ramdhani lost to Argenis Marinez & Nairobi Jimenez.
The Guyana Players are now competing in the CAREBACO Regional Championships open to only Caribbean member countries. This is the third part of the CAREBACO events which began yesterday.
