With 13 Grade Ones, 1 Grade Two and 1 Grade Three secured at this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examination, Bharrat Anand Sookdeo, is on course to embracing a profession he had envisaged all along.
The 17-year-old, another of the successful students of the Saraswati Vidya Niketan (SVN) Hindu School, is elated with his performance, and has revealed that he intends to further his studies at a college in New York, majoring in Business.
Sookdeo is most appreciative of the blessings he has received from the Creator for allowing him to complete his exams successfully. His efforts have resulted in him being the 17th best CSEC performer this year.
Sookdeo emphasised that he certainly could not have made it without the support of his parents Rampersaud and Bibi Sookdeo. His teachers also came in for high praise, as he described them as “very instrumental” in his success. He specifically named his tutors – Harim OM and all SVN teachers – especially Seokumarie Gobin.
The lad who resides at La Jalousie, West Coast Demerara was also inspired by his siblings to perform well. He recalled that his older brother Tatesh Sookdeo had at the same examination secured 7 grade one passes and 5 twos. His sister, Anuradha Sookdeo, had in 2014, gained 14 ones and 1 two and was 12th in the country.
But it was not all studies for Bharrat, as according to him, he also managed to spend quality time with his family, hang out with friends and neighbours, listen to music and attend and assist at Temple.
