First division basketball action is set to continue in Berbice today with one game in the A. Ally and Sons Basketball Competition. Set to do battle at the Tain Basketball Court from 16:00hrs will be Rose Hall Town Jammers and new comers Guyana Human Development Centre (GHDC) who will be at home.
Six teams are set to participate in the competition with group “A” comprising of Smithfield Rockers, Fyrish Black Sharks and Ithaca Hardliners of West Berbice.
The teams making up group B are Rose Hall Town Jammers, Guyana Human Development Centre of Corentyne and New Amsterdam Warriors.
The teams in each group will play each other once with the top two advancing to play the top two in the other group. The winners will advance to the semifinals.
Matches in the tournament are being held every Sunday.
Cash, trophies and other incentives will be presented to the top three teams with the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and other outstanding individual performers will be awarded.
In the one game scheduled for last Sunday at the Vryman’s Erven Basketball Court Smythfield Rockers gained a walkover from Fyrish Black Sharks. (Samuel Whyte)
