A number of major sponsors are on board for the second annual President Cup Horserace meet organised by the Rising Sun Turf Club in collaboration with Friends of Rising Sun. Dubbed the real President’s Cup, the event is being staged in honour of Executive President of Guyana his Excellency Brigadier David Granger. The event will also be held as a continuation of Guyana’s 50 Anniversary Golden Jubilee Celebrations and is set for Sunday, August 28th at the Rising Sun Turf Club, Arima Park, West Coast Berbice.
Eight races are listed for the day with over $7M in incentives up for the taking including cash, trophies and other memorabilia.
Meanwhile, a number of major companies are on board for the event which has a number of feature races listed including races for animals classified A, E, G, Two years old and H class horses.
Among the companies on board so far are beverage giants Banks DIH Limited, Inshan Bacchus Hard Running Tucking Service and Racing Stable, Jumbo Jet Racing stable and Trophy Stall of Bourda Market among others.
The feature A and lower event will see the top horses once again expected to continue their battle for supremacy over 1400M for an encouraging $1.2 M and the President’s Cup.
The event for animals classified E and Lower over 1400M has a winning pocket of $600,000 and trophy. Then there is the 1400M event for G and lower horses for a winning prize of $400,000 and trophy.
The winner of the H and lower 1400M event will get $300,000 and trophy. The two year old event is for Guyana Bred horses over 1100M for a winning pocketing $280,000 and trophy.
A competitive field is expected to take to the track in the race for animals classified ‘J’ and lower for the $260,000 winners money and trophy over 1100 M.
Horses running in the K and Lower 1100M even will battle for a top prize of $240,000 and trophy. The K and lower 1100M event will see the winner taking home $220,000 and trophy.
The final event is for horses classified L and lower with a winner’s money of $180,000 and trophy also over 1100.
Top jockeys, runner up, stable and trainer will be presented with incentives compliments of Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall and the organizers.
